RRR Sorcha x RRR Melod

Black variberk downunder rex x x Russian blue? berkshire rex

I paired Sorcha with Melod on the 13th. This is partly to help determine Melod's color. We think the mink or RED in his pedigree has made it appear different and modified the color. We just can't seem to agree and hopefully this will help answer our questions. His furr is entirely different from any of our Russian and American blues. His eyes are ruby, not black.

We will have all dumbos with standard, rex, and double rex furr. We hope the babies get their dad's comfirmation. He has gorgeous ears and is well proportioned whereas Sorcha is a bit lithe and narrow faced.

We will be expecting black and russian blue, possibly some RED. We have a good chance for downunders in this litter. It should be an interesting litter.

Sorcha appears to be putting on some weight. Her earliest due date is the 9th of May.

We will keep Melod with her until she starts to show. She never had any success with Pip or Navarre, but hopefully we'll see rittens this time!

Sorcha has gotten chunky! I estimate that we'll see babies by the 12th, but it could be a bit later.

We are excited for this litter. Sorcha is likely to have a smaller number because of her age, so the waiting list is going to be tight on this one. This will be Sorcha's first and only litter sadly, but we are considering further plans for Melod.

They should be gorgeous!

I will be removing Melod and putting him back with his buddies tonight. Sorcha is definately pregnant and her nipples are showing. She very well could give birth the 9th. I hope I don't miss it. Her sister Evolet seemed to have had some difficulty. (She gave birth while I was at work) I noted a fair amount of blood on the bedding and only 3 of 7 made it. I want to monitor Sorcha's birthing closely to watch for any potential difficulty.

Be watching for a new litter announcement!

Sorcha gave birth (without me! X.x) on May 10th. We lost 2 and have 5 surviving, for a total of 7.

Oddly enough, there are no smoothcoat! We've checke whiskers and some aren't as curly, but none are straight. There are three black eyed and two red/ruby eyed.

Sorcha is a bit protective and grabbed the back of my hand a little. She just scratched the skin. We're going to wait a little before taking pictures. Hopefully in a day or two she won't mind so much. This is Sorcha's first and only litter. Once they are weaned, she is officially in retirement.

Waiting list is open. Two are already claimed most likely.

Oh, and there are thee females and two males. We've had inquiry about two females. We suspect we have a backout on the Notch capped downunder, so she will likely be held in order to complete.a pair with the remaining female in this litter.

Their markings are starting to show. We have only one black pup in the entire litter! It looks like we've got some blue babies, mostly veriberk and I think a mismarked hooded. Its too early to tell for certain. I took some photos of them last night and will get them loaded asap.

Sorcha is still being protective. She's not being aggressive about it, but you can tell she is not happy with me when I handle her pups. Hopefully some icecream will 'sweeten' her outlook.

We have uploaded pictures of Sorcha's litter. She's still being protective and got me in nearly the same exact spot as she did last time.

We are still reserving out opinion on specific colors. They have several dilutes and the mink genes can alter their color, so we want to wait until their full coat is coming in. We think one of the girls, a berkshire (possibly DU) is the same color as Melod. We have at least one downunder in a blue shade. And a variegated hooded in blue as well. Gorgeous pups.

Here's their photobucket album.

Alright, because of the outcome with this litter we have decided that Melod is Russian Dove. Two of the pups should be the same color as their father. Thank you, Jenni's Mischief, for helping me figure it out.

Females:
Russian blue Varieberk
Russian blue Variegated DU
Russian dove Varieberk

Males:
Black self w/white toes
Russian dove Capped double rex?

We should have rex and double rex in this litter. It is very unusual that we have no smoothcoat. We won't start reservations until their eyes are open and they are more active.

If you are interested, feel free to fill out an application and get on the waiting list.

More pictures have been added to their photo bucket album. We've updated the litter stats. We're still trying to decide if the Russian Dove Varieberk is a downunder or not. We should be able to tell once she starts to darken. But we can now see a small headspot on the capped Russian Dove boy.

It also appears we may have no double rex either, which confuses me. There is a possibility both parents carry pearl which can be lethal in utero. Perhaps that is why we appear to have only one coat type in a litter which should have had all three. Something to discuss with someone with the mentor. He has much more experience with pearl.

The Russian Dove Varieberk DU and the Russian Blue Varigated DU have been reserved to Amy R.

We are accepting applications for the others. They are super cute. Played in my lap for over an hour last night.

The third female can be adopted with her cousin, a Black Notch capped DU that is from Nimue and Navarre's litter and 6 weeks older.

We have some late showing double rexes in this litter! Always before we could tell as soon as they had hair. These didn't show until 4 weeks! They are adorable though, fuzzy or not. Everyone but the Russian blue varieberk double rex female is reserved. We still have one available from Nimue's litter and they could be adopted together as a pair. New pictures coming soon!

We said goodbye to 4 of Sorcha's litter today. Leaving only the Russian blue Double Rex Varieberk, still available. One set of girls and the boys went to their new homes. I already miss them and their sister does too.

I'll intro her to a couple girls tonight.

Russian blue Double Rex Varieberk- Still available

We also have a girl from Nimue's litter still left. A notch capped downunder smooth coat.
