Ritten Alert!!

I came home to squeakers! Evie gave birth to 7 but sadly one did not make it. Two of the remaining six aren't as pink as I would like, so we will keep a close eye on them.

We have 4 smoothcoat and 2 rex. Evie is still awfully round, but I think she's done. We'll see. I'll give her til the morning and take a look then. We'll palpatate and see if we feel anyone else inside. She is active and calm and shows no signs of distress.

The birth doesn't seem to have adversely affected Evie. There is a normal amount of blood on the bedding and she is eating fine. She enjoyed a piece of a milkyway bar while I checked out the babies.

I am disappointed to announce that we lost three in the night, leaving us with three. 2 smoothcoat and 1 rex.

We lost the two who's color was not good and one of the others. I'd noticed she wasn't as active. Perhaps Evie stepped on her or something. Everyone else is thriving with large milk bands.

Evolet's three rittens are doing great. They are just barely starting to show pigmentation. It would appear we have all blue, though one of the smoothcoats is lighter, so we could have a second color. The rex female looks like she'll be a blue bareback, a mini-me of her mom!

We won't know if we have any downunders yet or not. Pigment on the belly comes last lol

We are looking at our waiting list and will contact those who have waited the longest. We have quite a list to go through since this was such a long awaited litter. At this time, we are not sure which if any of the three will be up for adoption.

I do want to put out that we have an RED Platinum male from our last litter who is still available. And a wedgeblazed varigated older male rescue we call Maverick for adoption. Pics will be posted of him soon!

Lastly we have a female perle merle who is also available. We call her Taj. We will update the available page with their information and pictures next week.

They have begun to show their markings. We have two smoothcoat boys and one rex girl.

The biggest boy appears to be a berkshire and the second is probably a capped with a headspot. It's a huge headspot that makes him almost mock masked. The rex female is a bareback with a headspot. I can't tell yet if we have any downunders. Their bellies are still pink.

They are all three doing great. Evie is a very good mom.

We are not positive on the colors yet. Blue shades change a lot during moulting periods.

We're pretty sure we have a goergeous Russian silver or powder blue berkshire (no ticking or heathering yet, but it may appear), an American Blue bareback w/headspot, and what we think is a Russian Blue capped with a headspot. It appears diluted bc of all the white. If not its American blue.

We probably won't have final color announcments until they are several weeks old. We might have some minor belly spots on one, but they are just getting furr on their bellies. We don't have any full blown downunders though.

We will probably repeat this breeding before retiring Evolet. She and Navarre produced gorgeous pups. We hope their personalities are just as good as their parents. If so, we'll schedule it on our upcoming litters page.

For pinky pictures, check out the link on our website to their photobucket album!

The babies are doing great. We had a very brief photoshoot yesterday outside. The weather warmed up temporarily.

I don't think they were much impressed lol but I did get a couple ok shots.

One male and the one female will be up for adoption from this litter.

The babies continue to thrive. They are just shy of four weeks old now, so as early as two weeks from now they could go to their forever homes. We are treating everyone for mites as a precaution before anyone goes elsewhere. At 6 weeks old the babies will have received their third and final dose.

We are accepting applications for our available rats and our 4 week olds.
